Top 10 Most beloved Artists In The Usa List by modern Art Gallery Magazine
There is very good media coverage of all the various optic arts. In expanding to educational programs in the collective and underground schools there are popular arts history courses in most major colleges and universities.
Anyone who has looked at the art group policy offerings in an art policy catalog at a major university or college of art and create will be able to select from a wonderful array of art study from every culture and age.
You don't have to go to college to appreciate art. There are online courses available and junior college offerings. roughly any major museum has an art education agenda that is sometimes very sufficient for most peoples' interests. The internet is a veritable super art library as well with art works by numerous past and contemporary artists. The articles are numerous as well as fair to good potential art images. Even the online poster stores make a huge whole of works available by lithograph print at a very low price.
Art is now so popular that a singular artists' popularity can be measured by some factors:
1) attendance numbers of up-to-date collective and underground exhibitions of their works
2) sales figures on art textbooks and art coffee table books that consist of a singular artist's works
3) numbers of art posters and art lithographs sold per year
4) sales of art postcards, tee shirts, and any other art imprinted wares with any artist's work
5) numbers of crusade machine requests for an artist's name or title of his/her works
6) numbers of study projects conducted by students and professionals.
The list of these artists is large and it varies from month to month and from year to year. So I have compiled the Top 10 Most popular Artists In The Usa List for 2006 - 2007 with the help of the staff at: Contemporary Art Gallery Magazine
Top 10: Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Vincent VanGogh, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Edgar Degas, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Georgia O'Keefe, Paul Gauguin.
There were some celebrated surprises for me. Leonardo DaVinci did not make the top 10 artists list, but Jack Vettriano got amazingly close to the list considering his rather contemporary body of work and romantic subject matter. If you have a popular artist who is not on this list, but you believe should be, send us an email at Cag.

Marc Chagall - The Russian-Jewish Artist, a European Modernist Painter
The 20th century European Modernist, Figurative artist, Mark Zakharovich Shagal, or Marc Chagall was born Moshe Shagal on July 7, 1887 in Vitebsk, Belarus, the then part of the Russian Federation. The eldest of nine children, Marc hailed from a Russian-Jewish family. His father, Khatskl (Zakhar) Shagal, worked for a herring merchant and his mother, Feige-Ite, ran a small grocery store. During his early years, Chagall was not allowed to attend a local society school because of his Jewish descent. His mum had to bribe the head scholar fifty rubles to allow him in.
Chagall started drawing as a schoolchild. He copied portraits and other notable drawings. Jewish-Belarusian artist-painter Yehuda Pen tutored him on painting in 1906. In 1907, Marc joined the School of the society of Art Supporters, at St. Petersburg. He was taught there by the Russian painter, Nikolai Roerich. During 1908-10, Marc Chagall studied at the Zvantseva School of Drawing and Painting. In 1909, at the age of twenty, on one of his journeys back home, Marc met his time to come wife, Bella Rosenfeld.
On the pro front, Chagall gradually attained fame as an artist. Soon after, he moved to Paris, the then carefully town for the artistic community. He befriended Guillaume Apollinaire, Robert Delaunay, and Fernand Léger there. In 1914, Marc was back home and married Bella in 1915. They had one daughter from the marriage in 1916, when the World War I also began.
The artist dabbled in every potential medium of art, fluctuating from his paintings to his book illustrations, stage sets, ceramics, stained glass windows, tapestries, and print-making. 'Cubism,' 'Symbolism,' 'Fauvism,' and 'Surrealism,' all were his forte. Bella posed as a model for many of Chagall's works. The artist achieved recognition for several of his works, such as "Me and My community (1911)," "Self-Portrait with Seven Fingers (1912-13)," "Red Jew (1915)," "Above the City (1914-1918)," and "The Fall of the Angel (1923-1947)." Upon his return to Russia, Marc Chagall joined the Russian Revolution of 1917. He was also made the Fine Arts Commissar of Vitebsk.
In 1920, Chagall, his wife, and their daughter shifted to Moscow and to Paris in 1923. In 1937, Marc gained French citizenship. Owing to World War Ii, however, the house had to flee to Madrid. During 1941-1948, they resided in the United States. Jewish martyrs and Jewish refugees were mostly depicted in most of Chagall's works of this time. Meanwhile, on September 02, 1944, his wife passed away. The artist did not paint whatever for the next nine months. In 1945, however, Chagall struck a romantic relationship with his thirty years old housekeeper, Virginia Haggard McNeil, with whom he even had a son. The consolidate moved to Paris in 1950. The same year, Marc began with Graphics, coupled with "Cubism" and "Fauvism" influences. Here, Virginia left him for another man in 1952. Later, Chagall married Valentina Brodsky, who was 25 years younger to him. Valentina encouraged him to undertake large artistic projects, for example, the "Cycle Biblical Message," which was later installed in the National Museum of the Marc Chagall Biblical Message in Nice, France.
Marc's visits to Greece and Israel in 1957 helped him evolve the unblemished understanding of Color Symbolism and Figurative Art. This was when he started with sculpturing, ceramics, and stained glass painting. Mark Chagall traveled extensively throughout the world and produced massive bodies of work throughout his career. 'Russian Expressionism' and 'French Cubism' influenced Mark's style of painting. Chagall died on March 28, 1985, at the age of 97, at Saint Paul, France.

Segmented Woodturning Allows the Artist To Put Together Many Designs to generate One Great Piece
Methods Used for Woodturning:
In woodturning, lot of methods were used to supply a very unique outcome. Segmented woodturning is one of those methods. Segmented woodturning allows the artist to use texture and color as create elements in development lathe turned vessels, wood bowls and other pretty wood piece sculptures. In other words, a segmented wood turner has the prerogative on what he or she wants to make.
Segmented woodturning is where an initial work piece composed of amount of parts glued together is turned on a wood lathe. This also involves having to glue up a few slabs of wood. This process allows the creation of patterns as well as gorgeous optic effects in the turned objects. Polychromatic turning is the other name for the segmented style.
What Makes Segmented Woodturning Different?
Unlike with the approved methods of woodturning wherein the template used is absolutely a singular piece of wood and the size, orientation of the grain, as well as the inviting colors of the wood frame how it can absolutely be turned into the products such as platters and bowls. This woodturning provides limitation on the size and patterns with your skill, patience and imagination. Though the majority of the segmented turned objects are shaped into vessels of one sort or another, any turned items made up of multiple pieces of glued wood can already be categorized as something that has undergone turning that is segmented.
Product Samples:
Pepper mills, salt shakers, pens and rolling pins are some of the examples. After items are being turned, by merely cutting them and then re-assembling them, can generate unique and absolutely gorgeous forms, resulting in an artistic piece. You can also see the example of the work fulfilled, by Malcolm Tibbetts, who is an scholar woodturner.
In increasing to the design-related skills, it absolutely needs a lot more precision when it comes to woodworking skills as well as in the turning skills. The create as well as the general make up of a bowl blank, which is the piece of wood that can be commonly seen mounted on top of the lathe for turning a vessel, needs to be angled, especially in miter joints cuts to as slight as a tenth of just one degree, or a bit more.
Qualities of a Good Segmented Woodturner:
A segmented woodturner also has to possess some of the qualities needed in order for them to be more successful. Primarily, you have to be patient. In all things that we do, there are many quick and instant results. If you want to fulfill yourself and feel real satisfaction, take it easy and slow. Next is that you have to enjoy meticulous work. If you are a kind of someone who is absolutely annoyed by complex things, this is definitely an operation not superior for you. In segmented turning, you have to enjoy exact detailed work. Lastly, you need to be a slight nutty!
Segmented Woodturners of the Past:
Segmented wood turning has been used a very long time ago, but only a few individuals have used this technique. But since today segmented turning has become more popular, here are some tips and ideas as well as some advantages that can be useful especially to the beginners. First is that a typical segmented scheme will cost a lot less to make because you make your blank in the shape of the project. This means less materials will be needed. Next is that there is less mess to clean up after turning a segmented object because you don't start with a solid chunk of wood, there will be 65-75% fewer shavings to clean up.
Controlling Grain in Segmented Wood Pieces:
Another thing is that, you can control the grain direction in segmented projects so the turning is easier with fewer opportunities for 'catches' and other unfortunate mishaps. Next is that you will end up with creations that mom Nature could only dream of because with segmented projects, you can mix distinct wood types and take benefit of distinct orientations of the joints between pieces of wood. Other thing also is that you can form out what your segmented scheme will look like before you start. There are some create tools you can use to do this.
Managing Leftover Wood:
Also, segmented projects are a way for you make good use of those little, leftover pieces of wood; even pen blanks are sometimes useful. Next foremost thing is that there is a bunch of population ready and eager to help you. And last but definitely not the least is that you do not have to wait forever for the wood to dry. Dried materials ready for use are absolutely available in the market.

Acrylic Paintbrush Techniques - For the Portrait Artist
Paintbrushes
There is a dizzying array of brushes to select from and for real it's a matter of preference as to which ones to buy. Artificial brushes are best for acrylic paints and Cryla brushes are good quality. Again, best to buy a few good ability brushes than a whole load of cheap ones that shed most of their bristles onto the canvas. Having said that a series of fairly cheap hog hair brushes are great for applying texture paste and scumbling.
The biggest rule of thumb when using acrylics is not to allow the paint to dry on your brushes. Once dry they are solid and although soaking them in methylated spirit overnight softens them a little, they ordinarily lose their shape and you end up chucking them out.
It is recommended that portrait artists invest in a water container that allows the artist to rest the brushes on a ledge so the bristles are submerged in the water without the bristles being squashed. The artist then needs a rag or a piece of kitchen towel handy to take away any excess water when I next want to use that brush again. This saves having to completely rinse each brush after each use.
Brush techniques
Brushes need to be damp but not wet if you are using the paint quite thickly because the paint's own consistency will have adequate flow. However if you are wanting to use a watercolour technique then your paint should be mixed with abundance of water.
Use a large brush for big areas and for more detailed work use a thinner brush with a point. Hold the brush nearer to the bristles for increased accuracy or added away if you would like more free time with the stroke. Start your portraits by retention a large brush halfway up to quickly give the background a colour. Artists should not be so worried about mixing the exact colour as they can often mix colours on the canvas by involving my brush colse to in lots of separate directions.
One method for house portrait artists would be to start on the face using Payne's Gray to fill in the shadows before applying a fairly opaque background of flesh tint when the shadows have dried. After that build up the skin tone with lots of separate coloured washes and glazes.
Two separate methods could be explored here by the portrait artist:
• Mix up a large quantity of a colour on the palette with a lot of water and apply it liberally to the canvas in sweeping movements to create an wide tint.
• Or 'scumbling', which is where your brush is relatively dry, loaded only a quarter full and dragged over the face in all separate directions allowing the dry under painting to show through.
Family portrait artists use the scrumbling technique a lot especially when painting highlights and places where light hits the skin like on the tip of the nose, top lip, forehead and cheeks. The scrubbing petition tends to wreck fine brushes so only use hog hair brushes for this.
The majority of the house portrait is built up using glazes of all separate colours. The portrait's appearance can convert quite dramatically at separate stages leaving subjects seeing seasick, jaundiced, embarrassed or like they've seen a ghost and had a lot of heavy nights out.
Look for subtle shades, like there's often yellow and blue in the skin tones under the eyes, pink on the cheeks and under the nose, crimson red on lips and ears and greens and purples in the shadows on the neck and forehead.
Finally, use fine brushes for adding details like eyelashes. It may help if your rest your small finger on the canvas to steady your hand at this fine detail stage. At the end of all this you will hopefully have a house portrait that looks lifelike and resembles the man or house you are trying to capture on canvas!

Christian Music Artists Of The 1980's - By The Numbers
Times have sure changed in the Christian music scene. With new artists like Brandon Heath, Rush of Fools, and Lincoln Brewster topping the Christian Adult contemporary charts recently, it may be easy to forget artists like 2nd part of Acts, White Heart, and Leslie Phillips. In an exertion to keep the past alive, here is an objective look back at the Christian music artists of the 1980's.
Using Ccm magazine's Adult contemporary Airplay charts, data was collected for every song charted by every artist during the decade. The following method was used:
1. Points were earned for each song's peak position (#1 = 40 points, #2 = 39 etc.).
2. One point was awarded for each week a song was on the chart.
3. Finally, one point was given for each week a song was at #1.
To get the artist rankings, the total points that each song earned were added together.
Of the 254 artists whose songs made the charts in the 1980's, Amy Grant came out on top. Fueled by 21 top tens (5 of which went to #1), Grant ended the decade with 1488 points. The Imperials charted 25 songs during the 80's and terminated in second place. Sandi Patty's five #1 songs helped position her in third. Twila Paris reached the top spot 6 times during the decade, placing her fourth. To the surprise of some, Wayne Watson came in fifth place. Michael Card edged out Michael W. Smith by a point for the #6 spot. Dallas Holm came in eighth. Steve Camp, whose song "He Covers Me" was the top song of 1987, terminated the decade in ninth. Petra, with their five #1's, rounded out the top ten.

Oil Painting Artists - The Five many Artists of All Time?
Who are the greatest oil painting artists of all time? The quiz, will beyond doubt bring out assorted differences of plan from the readers of this article. Over the last 500 years, beyond doubt since the dawn of the renaissance, the world has been blessed with numerous talented and prolific artists. I have chosen five exceptional personalities that I think have had the greatest impact on the art world.
Here are my top 5, numbered in order of importance:
Oil Painting Artist #1 Leonardo Da Vinci:
Leonardo was born the illegitimate son of Piero da Vinci, and a peasant woman named Caterina, in Vinci, near Florence. He was educated primarily by Verrocchio, and much of his earlier working life was spent in the aid of Ludovico il Moro in Milan. He later worked in Rome, Bologna and Venice and spent his last years in France, at the home awarded him by Francis I.
Leonardo's first opening for greatness came via Verroccio, who had him paint an angel in his "Baptism of Christ" piece. As you might expect, Leonardo did a extraordinary job at this 1st opportunity. In fact, it was so good that Verrochio himself decided he would never paint again. Leonardo continued working with Verrochio for a few years, and then the two parted ways.
As time went on Leonardo found himself in Rome, where most artists of the time would eventually wind up. He was given living quarters in the Vatican by Pope Leo X in observation for completing his commissioned pieces for the Church. Leonardo did not generate many new paintings while this period, concentrating on his drawings instead. Although he would later become supreme for his time to come studies of scientific subjects and anatomy, he would eventually find the time to do so. As you know, he is probably as supreme today for these scientific discoveries as he is for his works of art.
His most supreme works are probably the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. They beyond doubt are the most reproduced. It's a shame that we don't have more of his work nowadays to enjoy.
Perhaps fifteen of his paintings survive, the small estimate due to his constant, and often disastrous, experimentation with new techniques, and his continuing procrastination. Nevertheless, these few works, together with his notebooks, which include drawings, scientific diagrams, and his thoughts on the nature of painting, include a gift to later generations of artists only rivaled by that of his contemporary, Michelangelo.
Oil Painting Artist #2: Michelangelo:
Michelangelo was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineer. Despite production few forays beyond the arts, and his ultimate reluctance to do so when it was forced upon him, his his body of work is truly outstanding! In fact, it is ordinarily he or DaVinci who is credited as the most leading personality of the Renaissance period.
Michelangelo Buonarroti was born into nobility, but was not raised by his parents. His father shipped him off to a stone carver and his wife at an early age, because his mom was permanently sickly and frail. While living with his surrogate parents, young Michelangelo learned the skills that would serve him throughout his life Of course, being a nobleman, his father was displeased when his son told him of his artistic intentions. It took some major convincing for Michelangelo to continue his apprenticeship.
Michelangelo's production in every field while his long life was beyond doubt prodigious. And when the sheer volume of surviving correspondence, sketches, and reminiscences is taken into account, he is the best-documented artist of the 16th century. His two most supreme sculpting works are probably the Pietà and David, which were sculpted prior to his 30th birthday.
In one of biggest ironies of life, Michelangelo created the most supreme pieces of art in the world using mediums that he beyond doubt didn't like. Not only did he not like painting frescoes, he didn't think he was all that good at it. Of course he went on to generate the scenes from Genesis on the ceiling and The Last Judgment on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel. And although he also had a low plan of architecture, he achieved fame by pioneering the Mannerist style at the Laurentian Library. Ultimately, at the ripe old age of 74 he succeeded Antonio da Sangallo the Younger as the architect of Saint Peter's Basilica.
Oil Painting Artist #3: Vincent van Gogh:
Van Gogh was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose work had a far-reaching sway on 20th century art for its vivid colors and emotional impact. He was born in Zundert, a village in Brabant, in the Netherlands in March of 1853.
Vincent's first exposure to the art world was when he worked at a leading Hague gallery, which had been established by his uncle Vincent. His brother Theo later worked for the same company. After working for the art dealers, Vincent took the job of assistant teacher, and preacher in a boarding school in England, but this was short lived and his obsession with evangelical Christianity made him want to become a minister like his father, so he tried to enroll in a theology school, but was refused admittance.
After many trials and tribulations, Vincent stated working as an independent artist in Brussels, while his brother Theo providing him with support. His latent, prodigious talents soon emerged, and soon he had industrialized his own unique style.
Van Gogh's bold use of color and compound that would eventually became his trademark, were first seen in his Hague paintings. Van Gogh clearly had a soft spot in his heart for the downtrodden,as evidenced by many of these early works.
He later moved to Montmartre, France, where he discovered the works of Monet and other French Impressionists. It was here that he had a opening to meet with Gauguin, and Henri deToulouse Lautrec. This would be the turning point in van Gogh's career, as he enrolled in the extremely praised Fernand Cormon workshop where he added learned to use light and color in novel ways.
Throughout his adult life van Gogh demonstrated symptoms of mental illness. Despite a comprehensive tendency to romanticize his ill health, modern critics see an artist deeply frustrated by the inactivity and incoherence brought about by his bouts of sickness. According to art critic Robert Hughes, Van Gogh's late works show an artist at the height of his ability, wholly in operate and "longing for concision and grace. Alas, his frequent bouts of mental illness finally took their toll. He died largely unknown, at the age of 37, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Oil Painting Artist #4: Pablo Picasso:
Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno MarÃa de los Remedios Cipriano de la SantÃsima Trinidad Clito Ruiz y Picasso Ruiz Picasso, good known as Pablo Ruiz Picasso was a Spanish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor. He was born in Malaga, Spain, to artist and instructor Jose Ruiz Blasco, and his wife Maria Picasso. A decade later, young Pablo Picasso learned how to paint from his father, who had been appointed instructor at the Da Guarda art school in La Coruna.
Young Pablo would go on to be the co-founder of the Cubist movement. In addition he is recognized for the wide range of styles embodied in his work. He is possibly best known for the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon and Guernica. It is generally believed that the German bombing of Guernica while the Spanish Civil War had inspired some of his greatest pieces.
In his early years Picasso was already demonstrating an predicted estimate of artistic talent. He would go on to paint in a realistic manner throughout his childhood and adolescence. However, while the first decade of the twentieth century his style would convert as he experimented with distinct techniques, theories, and ideas. His world renown accomplishments would make him a household name, and bring him a huge fortune throughout his life. He is truly one of the best-known personalities in twentieth century art.
Oil Painting Artist #5: Rembrandt:
Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn was a Dutch painter and etcher. He is generally determined the most leading artist in Dutch history, and one of the greatest painters and print makers that ever plied their trade in Europe. His lifespan falls into a period that historians call the Dutch Golden Age.
He was born in July of 1606 in Leiden, the Netherlands. As he grew up he had the opening to study the life of the masters such as DaVinci and Michelangelo. However, he seemed to be most influenced by the work of Michelangelo Merisi Caravaggio, a revolutionary artist known for his unusual use of lighting, and the strangely out-of-place eroticism of his subjects, even biblical figures! As in the works of Caravaggio, Rembrandt's background compound remains dark, while his field is illuminated in a manner which makes the image appear nearly three dimensional.
After having achieved an ordinarily high estimate of success as a portrait painter, his later years were marked by personal tragedy and financial hardships. Nevertheless, his etchings and paintings were remained beloved throughout his lifetime, and his artistic prestige never falter while his lifetime. He was so extremely plan of that nearly every leading Dutch painter would end up studying under him. Rembrandt's greatest creative triumphs are exemplified n his portraits of his contemporaries, illustrations of Biblical scenes, and his self-portraits. In reality, it is his self-portraits that open a window to his inner soul. They generate a unique and intimate biography, in which the artist wholly portrayed himself without vanity and with the utmost sincerity.
In both painting and printmaking he exhibited a complete knowledge of classical iconography, which he molded to fit the requirements of his own experience; thus, the depiction of biblical scenes came from his intimate knowledge of the exact text, his assimilation of classical composition, and his observations of Amsterdam's Jewish population. Because of his empathy for the human condition, he has been called "one of the great prophets of civilization.

There are online courses ready and junior college offerings. approximately any major museum has an art instruction schedule that is sometimes very adequate for most peoples' interests. The internet is a veritable super art library as well with art works by numerous past and contemporary artists. The articles are numerous as well as fair to good capability art images. Even the online poster shop make a huge amount of works ready by lithograph print at a very low price.
Art is now so favorite that a singular artists' popularity can be measured by several factors:
1) attendance numbers of up-to-date group and incommunicable exhibitions of their works
2) sales figures on art textbooks and art coffee table books that contain a singular artist's works
3) numbers of art posters and art lithographs sold per year
4) sales of art postcards, tee shirts, and any other art imprinted wares with any artist's work
5) numbers of hunt engine requests for an artist's name or title of his/her works
6) numbers of explore projects conducted by students and professionals.
The list of these artists is large and it varies from month to month and from year to year. So I have compiled the Top 10 Most favorite Artists In The Usa List for 2006 - 2007 with the help of the staff at: Contemporary Art Gallery Magazine
Top 10: Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Vincent VanGogh, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Edgar Degas, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Georgia O'Keefe, Paul Gauguin.
There were some noted surprises for me. Leonardo DaVinci did not make the top 10 artists list, but Jack Vettriano got amazingly close to the list inspecting his rather contemporary body of work and romantic field matter. If you have a favorite artist who is not on this list, but you believe should be, send us an email at Cag.

Lighting a Fine Craft Trade Show Booth - Options for the Budget-Conscious Artist
Good lighting is a main ingredient of a flourishing trade-show booth. Just the right lighting system can help an artist create the climate of a fine-craft gallery. This will lure gallery owners off the isles and into your booth the first step toward development a sale.
Lighting is a relatively high-priced investment. So how does the budget-conscious artist find the right solution?
When it comes to selecting a lighting system, artists new to the trade show circuit often come to be overwhelmed. Prices vary wildly, and each custom center may have its own lighting rules. Lighting technology is changing rapidly, development the choices harder still.
This description details what I learned while tackling the challenge of lighting my 10X10 booth at the American Craft Retailers Expo (Acre), a large wholesale show for American and Canadian craft artists. As I am new to trade shows, this information is meant only as a pointer for artists in the process of selecting lighting, and perhaps also for more seasoned artists seeing to update their systems.
In examining many different lighting options, my objective was to illuminate my glass jewelry beautifully but inexpensively. I wanted the lights to be lightweight and modular, to fit in boxes for shipping to the show. I was seeing for contemporary styling, in silver or black. And I wanted to have at least one special lighting effect not too flashy to give my booth a unique element.
In his Cd on booth design, art company counselor Bruce Baker suggests 1,000 watts will light up a 10X10 booth very effectively. I decided to stay at or under 500 watts, however, because the Acre show includes 500 watts with the booth price, and the halogen lighting I finally decided upon illuminates my displays very well. Since I bought the lights at a big-box store with sites in virtually every city in the U.S., I can add more lights once Im at the trade show if necessary.
The Battle of the Bulb
Contractors choice Lighting (www.ccl-light.com) says a light fixture is simply a bulb holder. The bulb, therefore, should drive ones choice of a fixture. This is somewhat true for trade-show lighting, although the fixtures may dictate the types of bulbs, depending on the choices available at the store where one shops for the lights. The Ccl website offers a Bulb Photometrics page ([http://ccl-light.com/photometrics.html]), whose graphical representation is a refreshing departure from the involved descriptions of lighting options that have proliferated on the web.
Halogen is the bulb of choice for many trade show exhibitors. It offers a crisp, white light. Although habitancy ordinarily refer to halogen as non-incandescent, it is in fact a kind of incandescent lamp. It generates light by using a thin filament wire made of tungsten, heated to white by passing an electric current through it. Agreeing to general Electric, the first halogen lamp was industrialized in 1959 not too long ago for many of us!
Halogen bulbs differ significantly from the customary type of incandescents we grew up with. The halogen bulbs filament is surrounded by halogen gases (iodine or bromine, specifically). These gases let the filaments control at higher temperatures. The end effect is a higher light yield per watt.
The gases also do something rather miraculous: Tungsten tends to evaporate off the filament over time, and the gases unmistakably help re-deposit the tungsten onto the filament. This extends the bulbs life way beyond that of the customary incandescent bulb, whose evaporated tungsten clings to the walls of the bulb like a smoky apparition and ultimately the uncoated filament snaps. Who hasnt rattled a burnt-out light bulb and enjoyed the jazzy cymbal sound of the broken filament inside?
In addition to giving off more light than customary incandescent bulbs, halogen bulbs emit a whiter light that provides better color rendition. For highlighting and bringing out true colors, use halogen lamps, suggests Usa Light and Electrics website (www.usalight.com). Nothing looks better than the drama brought in with halogen lamps.
Baker also suggests halogen lights floodlights in singular for a contemporary look, especially for jewelry and glass. Its important to consider that other fine craft materials such as ceramics and wood might be better enhanced with halogen spotlights, or even with some of the more customary incandescent lights that emit a warmer color.
Having decided upon halogen lighting, my next task would be to choose bulbs. The Acre show takes place at the Las Vegas custom Center, which has instituted a spoton halogen lighting policy. Each light cannot exceed 75 watts, and all halogen bulbs must be premise sealed in glass (not in a movable lens or linear shape).
Thankfully, there is abundance of factory-sealed halogen lighting, in the form of Par halogen bulbs. Par is an acronym for parabolic aluminized reflector. Par bulbs have a built-in reflecting covering made of pressed glass. The glass provides both an internal reflector and prisms in the lens for control of the light beam.
Par bulbs are numbered, as in Par 16, Par 20, Par 56. The Par estimate refers to the bulb shape. Bulbs.com has a halogen section of the site where you can quickly assess the discrete Par bulbs visually. Within a given class of Par bulbs there are discrete wattages, wide and narrow spotlights and floodlights, different base sizes, and even different colors.
Fortunately I was able to skip the process of deciding on a Par bulb by deciding first where to shop for my lights (more on that below).
Power Issues
When you go to shop for track lights, youll consideration theres a choice between 12-volt and 120-volt fixtures. 120 is the approved voltage that comes directly into most homes and offices and custom centers.
For a lamp using 120 volts, no further parts are indispensable beyond a quarterly socket. 120-volt fixtures ordinarily are lighter than 12-volt fixtures because they dont need a transformer. They also cost less and can use halogen or quarterly incandescent bulbs.
I stopped short of investigating 12-volt fixtures, except to find out that they step down the estimate of power being used to a lower voltage, and thus are more power efficient. They require a transformer to turn the 120-volt household current to 12 volts, and they may require hardwiring (although one artist I know found a 12-volt fixture with a built-in transformer which she was able to plug into a 120-volt outlet. A 12-volt fixture accommodates very effective bulbs that offer a variety of wattages and beam spreads, along with the 50-watt Mr-16, which is beloved in galleries.
I decided on 120-volt lighting for the trade show, because I wouldnt have to worry about transformers and could just plug it in.
Choosing a Store and Track Lighting
I read the Acre online forum for clues about where to buy lighting. What one artist said struck me as eminently sensible: He buys all his lighting at Home Depot, because if anything goes wrong at the show, he can find a store colse to for exchange parts.
This was something to consider: Tempting as the gorgeous designs might be, special-order lighting of any kind introduces the risk of having a malfunctioning light for the duration of a show.
Another artist on the Acre online forum said he buys his lights from Lowes. It probably doesnt matter which big-box store one chooses, as long as theres one in every city.
Since I was new to trade shows and this was to be my first lighting kit, I resisted selecting from the many good suppliers on the web. I located on the miniature but consuming choice at Lowes. A side benefit of this was that my choices were conveniently narrowed.
Within the class of halogen lighting, you can get either track lights or stem-mounted lights (with arms extending outward). I went with track lights. This was partly because the stem lights I found on the web were relatively high-priced and Lowe's didnt offer them, and partly because with track lights I could have one cord instead of some hanging down.
The Lowes lighting salesperson was helpful in putting together a full box from the track lighting on display and in stock. I decided on four, two-foot tracks to keep the size of my shipping boxes down. Heres a rundown of what I bought:
· 4 two-foot track sections, folder brand, black finish, Item #225678. Each section holds 2 lights, for a total of 8. Total: .12
· 8 Flared Gimbal Track Lights, folder brand, Item #120673, with a satin chrome close for a contemporary look. They are easy to attach to the track by following the directions. Total: .76
· 8 halogen bulbs, Par 20, 50-watt, for bright, crisp light. I bought some floodlights and a join of spotlights. The bulbs are very packable, at a miniature over 3 long and 2.5 in diameter. Total: .00
· 2 miniature level Connectors by Portfolio, Item #120716, for joining two of the track sections end to end. The idea is to have only one cord to plug in from a row of four lights. Total: .92.
· 2 Cord and Plug Sets, folder brand, Item #120827, to power track from a approved Ac wall outlet. I linked these to the end of the two of the track sections by unscrewing the covering on one side of the track. Total: .06
· Various Multi-Purpose Ties (cable ties), by Catamount, for attaching tracks to booth pipes. Total: .00
· 2 heavy-duty extension cord/power strips 14-gauge, 15-feet, with three outlets each, Woods brand, from Lowes, Item #170224, model 82965. Total: .00
Grand total: 3.86
The Gimbal lights I chose only accept a 50-watt, Par 20 bulb, which made it easy to pick out the bulbs. So in this case, the fixture drove the choice of bulb, not the other way around.
According to the Bulb Photometrics page at Contractors choice Lighting, a Par 20, 50-watt halogen flood bulb will emit a beam of light with a 54 diameter when it reaches 10 feet away. It offers about 12 foot-candles worth of light at 10 feet away from the bulb (a foot-candle is the level of illumination on a covering one foot away from a approved candle.)
For the sake of comparison, a Par 30 beam offers a diameter of more than 8 at 10 feet away, and you still get about 14 foot-candles at that distance. What happens if you notch it up to a 75-watt bulb? You get a lot more foot-candles (38) at 10 feet away. This suggests that larger trade-show booths might want to take benefit of higher Par and higher watt bulbs.
All together, the track lighting system I chose uses 400 watts of electricity. This left me another 100 watts to add specialty or accent lighting to my booth, while still remaining at the 500-watt limit.
Cords, Plugs and Hanging Lights
The Las Vegas custom center has very spoton rules for cords, plugs, and hanging lights.
The two-pronged, 18-gauge cords that the constructor has attached to your lights are approved (leave the Ul tags and labels intact). These lighting cords cannot be plugged into the custom center outlet, however. Instead, you must plug them into a three-pronged, heavy duty, 14-gauge extension cord or a breaker strip with a 14-gauge cord. You can then plug that 14-gauge extension cord into the custom center outlet.
A 14-gauge extension cord is capable of handling 1,825 watts. Its helpful to read the brief extension-cord sizing and security information on the web pages of the Underwriters Laboratories (www.ul.com/consumers/cords.html) and the University of Florida Cooperative extension aid ([http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/Fy800]) before purchasing a cord.
Bruce Baker suggests the cord be 20 feet with six outlets, and that it contain a cord reel. I couldnt find this type of cord at Lowes, so I decided on two 15-foot, heavy-duty, 14-gauge extension cord/power strips, each offering three outlets. If you have a larger booth, you can find a 25-foot cord with three outlets at Lowes.
There are so many different approaches to hanging lights, and so many variables to consider, that it could be a topic for another article. In general, you can hang or clip lights onto a cross bar or onto the hard walls of your display if you have them. Depending on the rules of a singular trade show and the size your lighting system, you may be permitted to attach the lights to the booths existing pipe and drape.
Since my booth produce does not contain my own walls, my lights will attach either to the existing pipe or to a cross bar. Cable ties (commonly called zip ties) appear to be tool of choice for attaching tracks to the pipes or bars, and even for attaching further cross bars to existing pipe and drape. One artist I know uses Velcro strips, followed by cable ties to accumulate the attachments. There are a few whole websites for cable ties. One of them is http://www.cabletiesplus.com .
I purchased Multi-Purpose Ties from Home Depot. They can bundle 4 inches in diameter, withstand temperatures up to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, and hold up to 50 lbs.
Accent Lighting: Leds
There are many ideas for accent lighting although a fair treatment of the topic is beyond the scope of this article. Light-emitting diode (Led) lighting is one technology that is experiencing breakthroughs and growing fast. It takes many Leds to equal the light yield of a 50-watt bulb, and Leds are fairly expensive, so Leds arent ready for prime time when it comes to lighting a whole booth.
There are some close-up applications for Leds, however, that are worth seeing into now. An example is the in-counter light bar sold by Mk Digital Direct at http://www.mkdigitaldirect.com (at a whopping 5 per foot). The more affordable Mk Sparkle Light Pocket () is a transportable gismo that has extra long-life of over 100,000 continuous hours and promises to give jewelry maximum sparkle and scintillation.
The Nexus mini Led light system (www.ccl-light.com), meanwhile, offers a lot of illumination for its size a puck shape not much bigger than a quarter. The company says it is for direct display lighting of crystal and glass, and it can even be submerged in water. The light is attached to a 12 cable that ends in a plug, and has mode switch with seven different color choices. Unfortunately, white is not one of the color choices, and at its a bit expensive. Still, a few of these lights combined with room lighting could draw viewers into your booth and toward your most dramatic displays.
Leds also contain tube lights, flexible lights, linear lights, and bulbs. Superbright Leds (www.superbrightleds.com/edison.html ) has a variety of 120-volt screw-in Led bulbs for accent and other low-lighting applications, as well as a host of other consuming products such as plant up-light fixtures.
At this writing, the quest was still on for accent lighting to give my booth an extra special glow. Stay tuned for a time to come description on the results.

David Hockney - The Most Adorned British 'Pop' Artist
David Hockney is an English 'Pop' artist, though he never thorough this claim. Born in Bradford on July 9, 1937, David Hockney is the most publicized, recognized English artist of the twentieth century, after the Second World War. His success is credited to his ingenious paintings and exuberant personality.
Presently based at Yorkshire, Uk, David Hockney first studied at the Bradford College of Art and then the Royal College of Art, London. His experiments with art began since his college days. Initially an 'Abstract' painter, the artist soon abandoned it, as he found it a dull style. Venturing later into figurative paintings, he supplementary revolutionized them by adding words to them. During this era, there was a sudden outburst of 'British Pop Art' and David Hockney became a part of this movement. He admired most of his contemporaries, especially Francis Bacon, whose works influenced Hockney to use 'Expressionism.' His predominant painting, "We Two Boys Together Clinging (1961)," was an output of this phase. This painting is inspired by the poem of Walt Whitman, and refers to David's homosexuality.
In 1963, the artist traveled to New York, where others' artworks inspired him and he also made friends with Andy Warhol. He later moved to California and produced some of the most predominant 'Realist' paintings of these times, such as "Man in Shower in Beverly Hills (1964)" and the award winning "Peter Getting Out of Nick's Pool." In 1967, Hockney created one of his masterpieces, "A Bigger Splash." This painting though seems placid superficially; a deep probe reflects a sudden explosion in water in the form of the splash. His other very favorite painting is "Mr. And Mrs. Clark and Percy (1971)," depicting the wedding of Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell. The painting adopts 'Symbolism,' where the lilies depict female pulchritude and the cat in Ossie's lap portraying jealousy and betrayal.
Between 1970 and 1986, Hockney tried his hands at photography. Themed on consuming subjects, he formed a photomontage of them titled, "The Joiners." This 'Cubist' style of photography helped him learn the art of depicting a field through multiple viewpoints. His most predominant works of those times are "Pearblossom Highway #2," "Kasmin, 1982," and "My Mother, Bolton Abbey, 1982." David in December 1985 designed the cover of the predominant French magazine Vogue. The artist was made the Companion of Honor in 1997. His new painting, "A Bigger Grand Canyon, (1998)" was sold to the National Gallery of Australia for a report of .6 million. Inspired by Hockney's work, Jack Hazan, a filmmaker, made a biographical film, "A Bigger Splash," on the artist.
Owing to his fantastic art, printing, and photography, David Hockney is extremely regarded by art critics, admirers, and his contemporaries. His paintings all the time depict his personal emotions and this unique ability promptly connects with his audience. Most of his work is now exhibited in Salts Mill in Saltaire, near Bradford. Hockney has famously quoted, "Anything easy all the time interests me." This well describes his style of painting from easy to an extraordinary.

Oil Painting Artists - The Five many Artists of All Time?
Who are the many oil painting artists of all time? The examine will for real bring out varied differences of thought from the readers of this article. Over the last 500 years, for real since the dawn of the renaissance, the world has been blessed with numerous talented and prolific artists. I have chosen five exceptional personalities that I think have had the many impact on the art world.
Here are my top 5, numbered in order of importance:
Oil Painting Artist #1 Leonardo Da Vinci:
Leonardo was born the illegitimate son of Piero da Vinci, and a peasant woman named Caterina, in Vinci, near Florence. He was educated primarily by Verrocchio, and much of his earlier working life was spent in the service of Ludovico il Moro in Milan. He later worked in Rome, Bologna and Venice and spent his last years in France, at the home awarded him by Francis I.
Leonardo's first opportunity for greatness came via Verroccio, who had him paint an angel in his "Baptism of Christ" piece. As you might expect, Leonardo did a fabulous job at this 1st opportunity. In fact, it was so good that Verrochio himself decided he would never paint again. Leonardo continued working with Verrochio for a few years, and then the two parted ways.
As time went on Leonardo found himself in Rome, where most artists of the time would at last wind up. He was given living quarters in the Vatican by Pope Leo X in consideration for completing his commissioned pieces for the Church. Leonardo did not originate many new paintings while this period, concentrating on his drawings instead. Although he would later come to be celebrated for his future studies of scientific subjects and anatomy, he would at last find the time to do so. As you know, he is probably as celebrated today for these scientific discoveries as he is for his works of art.
His most celebrated works are probably the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. They for real are the most reproduced. It's a shame that we don't have more of his work nowadays to enjoy.
Perhaps fifteen of his paintings survive, the small number due to his constant, and oftentimes disastrous, experimentation with new techniques, and his chronic procrastination.
Despite development few forays beyond the arts, and his ultimate reluctance to do so when it was forced upon him, his his body of work is truly outstanding! In fact, it is ordinarily he or DaVinci who is credited as the most leading personality of the Renaissance period.
Michelangelo Buonarroti was born into nobility, but was not raised by his parents. His father shipped him off to a stone carver and his wife at an early age, because his mum was constantly sickly and frail. While living with his surrogate parents, young Michelangelo learned the skills that would serve him throughout his life Of course, being a nobleman, his father was displeased when his son told him of his artistic intentions. It took some major convincing for Michelangelo to continue his apprenticeship.
Michelangelo's production in every field while his long life was for real prodigious. And when the sheer volume of surviving correspondence, sketches, and reminiscences is taken into account, he is the best-documented artist of the 16th century. His two most celebrated sculpting works are probably the Pietà and David, which were sculpted prior to his 30th birthday.
In one of biggest ironies of life, Michelangelo created the most celebrated pieces of art in the world using mediums that he for real didn't like. Not only did he not like painting frescoes, he didn't think he was all that good at it. Of course he went on to originate the scenes from Genesis on the ceiling and The Last Judgment on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel. And although he also had a low thought of architecture, he achieved fame by pioneering the Mannerist style at the Laurentian Library. Ultimately, at the ripe old age of 74 he succeeded Antonio da Sangallo the Younger as the architect of Saint Peter's Basilica.
Oil Painting Artist #3: Vincent van Gogh:
Van Gogh was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose work had a far-reaching work on on 20th century art for its vivid colors and emotional impact. He was born in Zundert, a hamlet in Brabant, in the Netherlands in March of 1853.
Vincent's first exposure to the art world was when he worked at a leading Hague gallery, which had been established by his uncle Vincent. His brother Theo later worked for the same company. After working for the art dealers, Vincent took the job of assistant teacher, and preacher in a boarding school in England, but this was short lived and his obsession with evangelical Christianity made him want to come to be a minister like his father, so he tried to enroll in a theology school, but was refused admittance.
After many trials and tribulations, Vincent stated working as an independent artist in Brussels, while his brother Theo providing him with support. His latent, prodigious talents soon emerged, and soon he had developed his own unique style.
Van Gogh's bold use of color and aggregate that would at last became his trademark, were first seen in his Hague paintings. Van Gogh clearly had a soft spot in his heart for the downtrodden,as evidenced by many of these early works.
He later moved to Montmartre, France, where he discovered the works of Monet and other French Impressionists. It was here that he had a opportunity to meet with Gauguin, and Henri deToulouse Lautrec. This would be the turning point in van Gogh's career, as he enrolled in the extremely praised Fernand Cormon workshop where he further learned to use light and color in novel ways.
Throughout his adult life van Gogh demonstrated symptoms of mental illness. Despite a overall tendency to romanticize his ill health, modern critics see an artist deeply frustrated by the inactivity and incoherence brought about by his bouts of sickness. According to art critic Robert Hughes, Van Gogh's late works show an artist at the height of his ability, fully in control and "longing for concision and grace. Alas, his frequent bouts of mental illness ultimately took their toll. He died largely unknown, at the age of 37, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Oil Painting Artist #4: Pablo Picasso:
Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno MarÃa de los Remedios Cipriano de la SantÃsima Trinidad Clito Ruiz y Picasso Ruiz Picasso, better known as Pablo Ruiz Picasso was a Spanish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor.
In addition he is recognized for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work. He is possibly best known for the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon and Guernica. It is commonly believed that the German bombing of Guernica while the Spanish Civil War had inspired some of his many pieces.
In his early years Picasso was already demonstrating an predicted number of artistic talent. He would go on to paint in a realistic manner throughout his childhood and adolescence. However, while the first decade of the twentieth century his style would change as he experimented with separate techniques, theories, and ideas.
He is commonly carefully the most leading artist in Dutch history, and one of the many painters and print makers that ever plied their trade in Europe. His lifespan falls into a period that historians call the Dutch Golden Age.
He was born in July of 1606 in Leiden, the Netherlands. As he grew up he had the opportunity to study the life of the masters such as DaVinci and Michelangelo. However, he seemed to be most influenced by the work of Michelangelo Merisi Caravaggio, a revolutionary artist known for his unusual use of lighting, and the strangely out-of-place eroticism of his subjects, even biblical figures! As in the works of Caravaggio, Rembrandt's background aggregate remains dark, while his subject is illuminated in a manner which makes the image appear nearly three dimensional.
After having achieved an ordinarily high number of success as a portrait painter, his later years were marked by personal tragedy and financial hardships. Nevertheless, his etchings and paintings were remained favorite throughout his lifetime, and his artistic reputation never falter while his lifetime. He was so extremely thought of that nearly every leading Dutch painter would end up studying under him. Rembrandt's many creative triumphs are exemplified n his portraits of his contemporaries, illustrations of Biblical scenes, and his self-portraits. In reality, it is his self-portraits that open a window to his inner soul. They originate a unique and intimate biography, in which the artist fully portrayed himself without vanity and with the utmost sincerity.
In both painting and printmaking he exhibited a complete knowledge of classical iconography, which he molded to fit the requirements of his own experience; thus, the depiction of biblical scenes came from his intimate knowledge of the definite text, his assimilation of classical composition, and his observations of Amsterdam's Jewish population. Because of his empathy for the human condition, he has been called "one of the great prophets of civilization.

Acrylic Paintbrush Techniques - For the Portrait Artist
Paintbrushes
There is a dizzying array of brushes to pick from and de facto it's a matter of preference as to which ones to buy. Artificial brushes are good for acrylic paints and Cryla brushes are good quality. Again, good to buy a few good potential brushes than a whole load of cheap ones that shed most of their bristles onto the canvas. Having said that a series of fairly cheap hog hair brushes are great for applying texture paste and scumbling.
The biggest rule of thumb when using acrylics is not to allow the paint to dry on your brushes. Once dry they are solid and although soaking them in methylated spirit overnight softens them a little, they normally lose their shape and you end up chucking them out.
It is recommended that portrait artists spend in a water holder that allows the artist to rest the brushes on a ledge so the bristles are submerged in the water without the bristles being squashed. The artist then needs a rag or a piece of kitchen towel handy to take away any excess water when I next want to use that brush again. This saves having to thoroughly rinse each brush after each use.
Brush techniques
Brushes need to be damp but not wet if you are using the paint quite thickly because the paint's own consistency will have sufficient flow. However if you are wanting to use a watercolour technique then your paint should be mixed with plentifulness of water.
Use a large brush for big areas and for more detailed work use a thinner brush with a point. Hold the brush nearer to the bristles for increased accuracy or supplementary away if you would like more leisure with the stroke. Start your portraits by retention a large brush halfway up to swiftly give the background a colour. Artists should not be so worried about mixing the exact colour as they can often mix colours on the canvas by engaging my brush colse to in lots of distinct directions.
One recipe for family portrait artists would be to start on the face using Payne's Gray to fill in the shadows before applying a fairly opaque background of flesh tint when the shadows have dried. After that build up the skin tone with lots of distinct coloured washes and glazes.
Two distinct methods could be explored here by the portrait artist:
• Mix up a large quantity of a colour on the palette with a lot of water and apply it liberally to the canvas in sweeping movements to originate an broad tint.
• Or 'scumbling', which is where your brush is relatively dry, loaded only a quarter full and dragged over the covering in all distinct directions allowing the dry under painting to show through.
Family portrait artists use the scrumbling technique a lot especially when painting highlights and places where light hits the skin like on the tip of the nose, top lip, forehead and cheeks. The scrubbing petition tends to wreck fine brushes so only use hog hair brushes for this.
The majority of the family portrait is built up using glazes of all distinct colours. The portrait's appearance can turn quite dramatically at distinct stages leaving subjects finding seasick, jaundiced, embarrassed or like they've seen a ghost and had a lot of heavy nights out.
Look for subtle shades, like there's often yellow and blue in the skin tones under the eyes, pink on the cheeks and under the nose, crimson red on lips and ears and greens and purples in the shadows on the neck and forehead.
Finally, use fine brushes for adding details like eyelashes. It may help if your rest your diminutive finger on the canvas to steady your hand at this fine detail stage. At the end of all this you will hopefully have a family portrait that looks lifelike and resembles the man or family you are trying to capture on canvas!

There were some celebrated surprises for me. Segmented Woodturning Allows the Artist To Put Together Many Designs to create One Great Piece
Methods Used for Woodturning:
In woodturning, lot of methods were used to furnish a very unique outcome. Segmented woodturning is one of those methods. Segmented woodturning allows the artist to use texture and color as manufacture elements in making lathe turned vessels, wood bowls and other pretty wood piece sculptures. In other words, a segmented wood turner has the prerogative on what he or she wants to make.
Segmented woodturning is where an preliminary work piece composed of estimate of parts glued together is turned on a wood lathe. This also involves having to glue up a few slabs of wood. This process allows the creation of patterns as well as gorgeous visual effects in the turned objects. Polychromatic turning is the other name for the segmented style.
What Makes Segmented Woodturning Different?
Unlike with the approved methods of woodturning wherein the template used is actually a singular piece of wood and the size, orientation of the grain, as well as the piquant colors of the wood frame how it can actually be turned into the products such as platters and bowls.
After items are being turned, by merely cutting them and then re-assembling them, can generate unique and actually gorgeous forms, resulting in an artistic piece. You can also see the example of the work ended by Malcolm Tibbetts, who is an devotee woodturner.
In expanding to the design-related skills, it actually needs a lot more precision when it comes to woodworking skills as well as in the turning skills. The manufacture as well as the normal make up of a bowl blank, which is the piece of wood that can be usually seen mounted on top of the lathe for turning a vessel, needs to be angled, especially in miter joints cuts to as limited as a tenth of just one degree, or a bit more.
Qualities of a Good Segmented Woodturner:
A segmented woodturner also has to possess some of the qualities needed in order for them to be more successful. Primarily, you have to be patient. In all that we do, there are many quick and instant results. If you want to fulfill yourself and feel real satisfaction, take it easy and slow. Next is that you have to enjoy specific work. If you are a kind of someone who is actually annoyed by complex things, this is surely an operation not powerful for you. In segmented turning, you have to enjoy exact detailed work. Lastly, you need to be a limited nutty!
Segmented Woodturners of the Past:
Segmented wood turning has been used a very long time ago, but only a few individuals have used this technique. But since today segmented turning has come to be more popular, here are some tips and ideas as well as some advantages that can be beneficial especially to the beginners.
Another thing is that, you can operate the grain direction in segmented projects so the turning is easier with fewer opportunities for 'catches' and other unfortunate mishaps. Next is that you will end up with creations that mom Nature could only dream of because with segmented projects, you can mix distinct wood types and take advantage of distinct orientations of the joints between pieces of wood. Another thing also is that you can frame out what your segmented scheme will look like before you start. There are some manufacture tools you can use to do this.
Managing Leftover Wood:
Also, segmented projects are a way for you make good use of those little, leftover pieces of wood; even pen blanks are sometimes useful. Next prominent thing is that there is a bunch of people ready and eager to help you. And last but surely not the least is that you do not have to wait forever for the wood to dry. Dried materials ready for use are actually available in the market.
